We still have not 100% mastered flying with kids as there is so much to learn. My go to's for carry-on for our baby and toddler are the following:

1. Always pack an extra set of clothes on the airplane for the kids and for long hauls pack an extra set for yourselves. With bottles/sippy cups you name it flying around you are bound for a spill or two.

2. Plastic bags for wet clothes or storing items.

3. I maybe take my medicine bag to another level, but you don't know what can come up on your flight. My medicine bag includes items such as Gravel, Tylonal/Advil for adults and infants, Echinacea/Cold FX, Boiron for Colic, Teething and Colds for infants, Saje oils for headaches, immune, etc.

4. Overnight or very long flight are tough on everyone. Bringing along your children's blanket/sleep sack, stuffy -whatever they sleep with at night will help fall asleep. Hopefully :)

5. If you are breastfeeding, I keep the breast pillow at home and bring a pillow from home as carry-on. A pillow provides more uses than a breast pillow. It is good for the baby to sleep on like a bed, a comfy cushion for everyone on the airplane and a nice pillow for yourself at your vacation spot.

6. It is essential to stay hydrated on the airplane. However, I start the extra hydrating part 24-48 hrs in advance for the entire family. This way you are not spending to much time in the small bathrooms between the seatbelt signs on the airplane.

7. Pack some prizes for toddlers for using those "super scary" toilets. I find showing them the prizes before the flight and talking up how they will use the potty on the airplane helps motivate them.

8. We loved travelling with a fold up potty for our toddler. Our toddler felt more comfortable using it.

9. Have electronic devices all charged up with some new fresh shows/movies/games for your kids to keep them entertained even before the flight takes off. Netflix has a great selection of kids shows that you can download before leaving.

10. Bring high protein snacks to keep your kids fueled up for longer vs high sugar foods creating sugar spikes and crashes which usually come with tantrums. Some Protein options can be homemade protein balls, beef jerky, nut bars, etc.

11. EnerC Packages and Hydrolite packages to go into the water bottles is essential for getting your vitamin intake in with all the germs and hydration.

12. Bring your water bottle for yourself and kids onto the airplane so that everyone isn't waiting to get a drink. Not to mention they serve drinks in cups which is a disaster waiting to happen.

13. For the babies ears, we have all heard of breastfeeding/bottle feed baby on the way up and down. If this isn't an option, you can try a soother or at least a chew toy to keep the babies mouth opening and closing to help with the ears due to air pressure.

14. For toddlers ears, I provide my daughter with a Manuka Honeysucker or snacks that keep her mouth opening and closing during the takeoff and landing of flights.
