Sin Sydney
Sydney was fun while it lasted. With just a quick four days there we tried to see as much as possible between naps and early bedtimes. The main attractions, for the most part, were located pretty close to our hotel. Our hotel was located right on the edge of China Town. The amount of bubble tea shops located near us was endless. We had a few too many. We even tried another favourite for the Asians which is a Rice and Yogurt drink. We got addicted.
Our hotel was a nice 5-minute walk away was Darling Harbor. Because playgrounds our are current life we were super excited to have found a playground at Darling Harbor filled with two separate splash parks, interactive water toys, many slides, swings, surrounded by a convention hall, restaurants with large patios all along the ocean. Chris had an interesting adventure one time at the playground with Jada. She was playing away in her bathing suit and told Chris she had to go potty. To Chris’ surprise when he got her to the washroom there was a bunch of poo all in her bathing suit meanwhile the poo fell onto the floor. Jada, of course, was distraught and didn’t want to have to leave the playground. Chris ended up washing out the bathing suit and leaving a very poo-ed on towel in the garbage to make sure Jada could stay at the playground to play. Chris deserves a “dad award” after that one.
I enjoyed catching up with one of my old German roommates from when I lived in Australia back in 2008. It worked out well as she works at the Opera House directly across from the Harbour Bridge. She had already met Chris in Germany 7 years ago, at this visit she got to meet Cruz and Jada.
We had a babysitter watch our kidlets a few times while in Sydney. One of the date times we enjoyed a delicious dinner. The other date day we decided since our trip is almost over and we have packed on some pounds from spending all of our dates together eating that we should go to a spin class. Doing a class together was like the good old days before kids.
Of course, we checked out the "must see" Bondi Beach. We enjoyed the shops a few streets back, and the beach was beautiful but busy. Some people including myself did warn Chris that it was a bit of a tourist beach and overrated, but Chris seemed to have enjoyed the busyness of the beach and the energy of it.
Syndey was our last stop in Australia. To break up the flight home we flew to the Cook Islands for a week. More on the Cook Islands on the next blog post.
